Coupe De France - Lyon 3 Caen 1- Match Report
Lyon book their place in the semi-finals with a comfortable 3-1 win over Caen
Lyon sealed their place in the final four of the Coupe De France with a comprehensive 3-1 win over Caen.
With Champions League commitments looming, coach Bruno Génésio decided to rest a number of key players including captain Nabil Fekir. It wasn't long until Génésio's decision was justified when defender Jasaon Denayer headed Lyon into a lead on the 26th minute from a cross from Dutch winger Memphis Depay.
The second half the tie was put beyond doubt when Ivory Coast international Maxwell Cornet doubled the Ligue 1 sides advantage scoring from close range. Caen grabbed a lifeline in the contest when Malik Tchokounté pulled a goal for the visitors, however, the tie was put beyond doubt when Depay converted a late penalty, which saw defender Alexander Djiku sent off in the process.
Lyon joins PSG & Rennes as the sides qualified to the semi-finals.
