MOURINHO HAILS "AMAZING SEASON"
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes his players have had an "amazing season" following their Europa League triumph on Wednesday night. Despite receiving heavy criticism for their style of play this season as well as a poor home record that ultimately saw them finish in 6th in the Premier League table, Mourinho believes the season has been a success:
Speaking to beIN SPORTS in his post-match interview, Mourinho said:
"For me it means everything because the last title is always the most important one.
"For the club it means the puzzle and becomes one of the historical clubs with every title in the world of football. Sir Alex (Ferguson) won all the others! I won this one so it's a little gift for him. This club has everything now and we are obviously very happy because we go back to where the club belongs which is Champions League but we go in the right way.
I always think the right way to go to Champions League is you win the league or you win the Europa League. To finish second, third, fourth means money because you get into Champions League but no title and we won this title. The players (had an) amazing season.
"You know, it makes me laugh a little bit because I listened to strange things during the season and I read strange things during the season. It looked like we were the worst team in the world and I was the worst manager in the world but in the end we are not so bad."
