Serie A – Team of the week
Serie A round one has seen unexpected results, especially for the teams that ended the last season at the top.
The reigning champion Juventus was defeated at home by 0-1 to Udinese, Napoli who ended the last season fifth was also defeated 1-2 by Sassuolo, while the final score of last season's runner-up Napoli encounter with Hellas Verona was 1-1.
And the first round witnessed the emergence of few names that made it to the best 11; the lion's share was for Sampdoria and Torino ( 3 players for each), while the Brazilians were the most present with 4 players.

Goal Keeper:
Orestis Karnezis (Udinese):
The Greek international goal keeper succeeded keeping clean sheets against the defending champions, after saving six shots that almost cost his team a disastrous result if it found its way in, but he rose to the occasion and contributed in the victory over The Old Lady.
Defence:
Marcos Alonso
The Spanish has contributed in keeping Fiorentina's clean sheets in the game they won 2-nill over A.C. Milan, and he takes the greater credit in disrupting the Lombardi teams attacks, which led to denying the opponent from shooting inside the framework not even once.
Miranda
The Brazilian former Atletico Madrid player passed his first test in Serie A. He led his new team, Inter Milan, to win over Atalanta through a decisive pass that contributed the match only goal scored by his Montenegrin teammate Stevan Jovetić.
Abdelhamid El Kaoutari
Abdelhamid El Kaoutari, the Moroccan player coming from France's Montpellier, has proved that the decision to sign him up by Palermo was successful, that’s after scoring the winning goal for Palermo over Genoa 1-0 to give his team the full three in the injury time.
Alessandro Florenzi
Roma's season almost started with a defeat against Hellas Verona, but the equalizer scored by the young Italian Alessandro Florenzi saved the day after The Wolves were a goal behind, not to mention his defensive efforts put in the game.
Midfield:
Tornio dominated the midfield with three of its players earning their spots in the best 11 for the efforts they exerted when Torino hosted the newly promoted Frosinone Calcio.
The trio included the Brazilians Danilo Avilar and Bruno Peres along with the Italian Daniele Baselli. The first two passed two decisive balls ended in scored the goals of the game that ended 2-1, while the latter scored the winning goal, knowing that the hosts were ahead 1-0 until the 59th minute.
In the midfield too was Sampdoria's new comer from Ukrain's Shakhtar Donetsk the Brazilian Fernando. The player scored one of the game's five goals which they won 5-2 over the newly promoted Carpi F.C.
Attack (offense):
Luis Muriel and Eder
In their turn, the Colombian Muriel and the Italian Eder completed, with their teammate Fernando, Sampdoria's trio in the best 11. This is after each of the two scored a brace and effectively contributed in series of threats on Carpi's goal.
