Layun becomes fifth Mexican to score in Premier League
The Mexico international put an early goal past Tim Howard in Watford's first Premier League match since 2007.
Miguel Layun needed all of 14 minutes to become the fifth Mexican to score an English Premier League goal.
The 27-year-old scored Watford's opener Saturday as the newly promoted side earned a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park. The strike was Watford's first Premier League goal since May 2007.
The Mexico international pounced on a poor clearance from Everton defender Phil Jagielka, slamming a one-time shot past American goalkeeper Tim Howard from 15 yards out.
Layun logged 59 minutes before giving way to substitute Juan Carlos Paredes.
With the goal, Layun joins Javier Hernandez, Carlos Vela, Guillermo Franco and Jared Borgetti as Mexicans to have scored in the Premier League.
