Qatar and Al Sadd winger Akram Afif claimed the prestigious AFC Player of the year award on Monday evening. 

Afif, 23 had a standout season helping Qatar lift the Asian Cup in the UAE and playing a key role in club side Al Sadd’s run to the AFC Champions League semi-final.

Afif follows team mate Abdulkarim Hassan, who picked up the top award last season.
