Sangakkara out for 18 in final Test innings

Kumar Sangakkara scored just 18 in his final international innings before retirement as India continued to push for victory on day four of their second Test with Sri Lanka.

The fifth-highest run-scorer in Test history was welcomed to the pitch in Colombo by a guard of honour from the India fielders and made a fluent start with three boundaries.

However, Sangakkara fell to Ravichandran Ashwin (2-27) for the second time in the match when he edged the off-spinner to Murali Vijay at gully.

Sangakkara's illustrious Test career ends with the left-hander having scored 12,400 runs at a sparkling average of 57.40, with 38 centuries.

Sri Lanka duly closed on 72-2 in their second innings, 341 behind and with work to do to prevent India from levelling the three-match series at 1-1.

India had begun day four on 70-1 and advanced to 325-8 declared thanks predominantly to 82 from Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane's 126 - his fourth Test hundred.
