'Unbelievable' Curry even better than last season - Bogut
Andrew Bogut is in awe of Golden State Warriors team-mate and reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry, who is almost unplayable this season.
If you thought Stephen Curry could not better his NBA MVP season, think again, with Golden State Warriors team-mate Andrew Bogut claiming he has never seen the star guard play so good.
Curry claimed the league's top honour as the Warriors won their first championship in 40 years last season but he has stepped it up a notch in 2015-16.
Prior to Wednesday's matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies, Curry was averaging 32.4 points, 5.9 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 2.4 steals for reigning champions the Warriors, who are 8-0 so far.
Curry has not scored less than 20 points in a game this season, while he has scored 30 or more on five occasions, including a 53-point haul against the New Orleans Pelicans last month.
Compare that to last season, when he only managed to break the 30-point barrier twice in the opening eight games at an average of 24.8.
"Steph has probably never come out from the jump of the season like this before. He's confidence is at an all-time high right now," Bogut wrote in his column for NBA Australia.
"Some of the shots that he is taking and making, are truly unbelievable. They're even a step up from what he did last season.
"The issue he's faced over the last two games is that guys are trying to get into him, hold him, grab him, and do whatever possible to disrupt him.
"At Sacramento, [Rajon] Rondo was trying to get into him and hold him off the ball, and then [Kentavious] Caldwell-Pope did a pretty good job on him in our last game, but he still got his points.
"Guys are really trying to step up for that matchup now — they don't want to get embarrassed or go onto YouTube and see a Curry highlight!
"The role that Draymond [Green], Festus [Ezeli], Harrison [Barnes] and myself share is to get him the ball as often as possible in the right spots.
"Not just by passing the ball, but setting good screens to create that separation to give him room from the guys that are trying to be more physical with him."
