Angola dominate Egypt at AfroBasket

Angola crushed Egypt in their AfroBasket quarter-final as the rematch of the 2013 final ended in a one-sided win.

Carlos Morais (19 points) top-scored as Angola secured an 83-63 victory over Egypt in Rades.

Angola, the defending champions and winners of seven of the past eight AfroBasket tournaments, dominated from the outset.

A 20-13 first quarter sent them on their way, with Armando Costa (12 points) and Eduardo Mingas (10) helping Morais on the scoring front.

Ehab Amin managed 18 points for Egypt.

Awaiting Angola are 2011 champions Tunisia, who enjoyed a 67-60 win over a slow-starting Mali.

Mourad El Mabrouk hit 16 points for Tunisia, with Mali only managing to score four in a costly first quarter.

The other semi-final will see Senegal and Nigeria do battle.

Senegal eased past Algeria 75-58 on the back of 20 points from Gorgui Dieng, while Nigeria were untroubled in an 88-64 win over Gabon.
