Which National Teams Could Qualify for the 2026 World Cup During This FIFA Window?
The June 2025 FIFA international break is set to be a turning point in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Several nations across different confederations could secure their ticket to the tournament during this window.
Who’s already qualified?
So far, seven teams have officially booked their place at the 2026 World Cup:
- Hosts: United States, Mexico, Canada
- Asia (AFC): Japan, Iran
- South America (CONMEBOL): Argentina
- Oceania (OFC): New Zealand
These teams will be watching closely as others fight to join them.
South American Teams That Could Qualify (CONMEBOL)
With the CONMEBOL qualifiers entering the final stretch, several teams could punch their tickets during this international window:
- Brazil (21 pts):
If they defeat Ecuador (June 5) and Paraguay (June 10), and Venezuela and Bolivia draw, Brazil would secure direct qualification. - Ecuador (23 pts):
A win over Brazil combined with favorable results elsewhere could clinch their spot. - Uruguay & Paraguay (21 pts each):
Both could qualify if they earn at least 4 points this window and Venezuela fails to win either of their matches. - Colombia (20 pts):
Must beat both Peru and Argentina, and hope for stumbles by Venezuela and Bolivia to remain in the race.
Asian Teams That Could Qualify (AFC)
The AFC qualifiers also heat up in June, with some teams just a result away from sealing their spot:
- Uzbekistan:
Needs just a draw vs UAE (June 5) to qualify. - United Arab Emirates:
Must win both remaining matches and hope Uzbekistan loses to Qatar to qualify. - South Korea:
A win or draw against Iraq guarantees their place in the World Cup. - Others still in contention:
Australia, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq, Oman, and Indonesia all have mathematical chances but need favorable combinations of results.
