With an electric atmosphere at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, the Morocco women's national team secured a solid 3-1 win over Mali, sealing their place in the semi-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and showing they are serious contenders as hosts.
The Atlas Lionesses started the match strongly. In just the 7th minute, Ibtissam Jraïdi opened the scoring with a composed finish to the far post, following great work by Sakina Ouzraoui Diki. That early goal settled Morocco, who controlled possession and created the clearest chances throughout the first half.

Mali tried to respond through Aïssata Traoré and Fatoumata Diarra, but Moroccan goalkeeper Khadija Er-Rmichi stood firm to maintain the lead at halftime.

In the second half, Reynald Pedros’ side continued to attack with intent. In the 77th minute, substitute Sanaâ Mssoudy was fouled in the box, earning a penalty. Jraïdi calmly converted from the spot, securing her brace and putting Morocco 2-0 up.
With Mali pushing forward in search of a goal, Kenza Chapelle took advantage in the 89th minute, firing a low, powerful strike from outside the area after a pass from Imane Saoud, extending the lead to 3-0.
In added time, Mali got a consolation goal after Ghizlane Chebbak was penalized for handball, and Traoré converted from the spot, but the outcome was already sealed.
