Senegal look to regain ground

The Lionesses of Teranga began their campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Algeria, a result that extended their winless run in the continental competition to four matches.

Despite the scoreline, Senegal registered 11 attempts on goal in their opening match, one more than their opponents, but failed to capitalize on their chances. The Senegalese national team must improve its attacking efficiency to avoid beginning a WAFCON campaign with two consecutive defeats for only the second time in its history.

Kenya aim to earn their first points

Kenya also enter the match looking to bounce back after suffering a 4-0 defeat to Morocco in their opening game of the tournament.

The Harambee Starlets have yet to earn a point in WAFCON history and have lost all four of their matches in the finals. They have also conceded at least three goals in each of those games.

Goalkeeper Lilian Awuor was one of Kenya’s standout players against Morocco, making six saves. Her performance will once again be crucial for a team looking to improve defensively and secure a historic result.

A decisive match in Group A

Senegal and Kenya enter the match without a point, meaning another defeat could seriously complicate their chances of advancing to the next round.

The Senegalese will look to make the most of their greater experience in the competition, while Kenya will attempt to end a four-match losing streak and earn their first-ever WAFCON points.
