LIVE! Cape Verde vs. Cameroon in WAFCON 2026 on beIN SPORTS
The final matchday of Group D features two teams with very different objectives. Cameroon has already secured qualification for the quarterfinals as group winners, but the Indomitable Lionesses will now look to complete a perfect group stage and build momentum heading into the knockout rounds.
Meanwhile, Cape Verde, despite being eliminated in its first-ever WAFCON appearance, will be aiming to earn its first points in the competition and finish the tournament on a positive note against one of Africa's traditional powerhouses.
Cameroon Chasing a Perfect Group Stage
The Indomitable Lionesses opened the tournament with victories over Mali (2-1) and Ghana (1-0).
Those results secured first place in Group D while extending Cameroon's unbeaten group-stage run at the WAFCON to 11 matches, with eight wins and three draws during that stretch.
The team has now advanced from the group stage in all 13 of its WAFCON appearances. Only Nigeria has reached the knockout rounds more times.
A victory over Cape Verde would also allow the Indomitable Lionesses to win all three group matches at a single edition for only the second time in their history, having previously achieved the feat in 2016.
Cape Verde Looking to Make History
Although they can no longer qualify, Cape Verde still has plenty to play for as it looks to end its historic tournament debut on a high.
The island nation lost its opening matches to Ghana and Mali, but showed significant improvement in its second outing.
Evy Pereira scored Cape Verde's first-ever goal at the WAFCON, while Alivia Perry also found the net in the team's narrow 3-2 defeat to Mali.
Cape Verde also enjoyed 55 percent possession and completed 199 passes in that match, both tournament highs for the team. Now they will be hoping that progress translates into their first-ever points at the continental finals.
History Favors Cameroon
This will be the first-ever WAFCON meeting between Cape Verde and Cameroon.
The Indomitable Lionesses have plenty of experience facing tournament debutants, posting six wins, two draws, and two defeats in their previous 10 matches against first-time participants.
Cameroon has also scored in nine of those 10 games, with the only exception being a 6-0 semifinal loss to Nigeria at the inaugural 1998 tournament.
Marie Ngah Manga Chasing More History
The player to watch is Marie Ngah Manga, who has scored in each of Cameroon's first two group matches.
She found the net in the victory over Mali before converting a penalty against Ghana, becoming the first Cameroon player since Ajara Nchout in 2018 to score in the team's opening two matches of a single WAFCON.
She will now be looking to become the first Cameroon player ever to score in all three group-stage matches at the same edition of the tournament.
With a quarterfinal berth already secured, the Indomitable Lionesses will aim to finish the group stage in style, while Cape Verde hopes to conclude its first WAFCON campaign with a performance to remember.
