Robert Lewandowski Targets 100 Goals for Poland: “I Still Have Time”
The Barcelona striker found his smile again with Poland and left a quote that proves his hunger hasn’t faded at 37. A story of a legend who never stops scoring.
A New Goal for an Endless Striker
At 37 years old, Robert Lewandowski continues to show that his desire to score never fades. The Barcelona forward and Poland captain found the net again in a 2-0 win over Lithuania, taking his tally to 87 goals in 161 matches for the national team. And instead of slowing down, he’s already setting new targets.
“Only 13 more to reach 100? There are still a few games this year… and next year too,” he joked after the match.
With that trademark grin, Lewandowski reminded everyone that ambition has no age. After missing a penalty in his last game for Barça —a costly error in Seville— the striker rediscovered his joy under Poland’s new head coach Jan Urban.
Reborn Under Jan Urban
Since Urban’s arrival, Poland have rediscovered their confidence —and their captain his leadership. Lewandowski regained the armband and praised the new manager’s clarity and approach:
“The coach is honest and straightforward. We need to play games like this, win them, and go home with three points.”
Poland now sit second in Group G of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with 13 points from six games —just three behind the Netherlands, led by Ronald Koeman. Their next clash will be a key showdown against the Dutch on November 14, a date already circled in red by the Polish captain.
Ambition With No Expiration Date
Lewandowski isn’t just chasing goals —he’s analyzing them. After the win, he shared a candid reflection about how his team can still improve when controlling matches.
“The second goal calmed us down, but we lacked precision in the final pass and in keeping the ball,” he explained.
The veteran striker also highlighted the support of the 4,000 Polish fans who filled the stands in Kaunas, insisting their energy fuels the team. With confidence restored and his body responding well, Lewandowski’s sights are already set on the next milestone: 100 international goals, a number that would further cement his place among football’s all-time greats.
