Memphis Depay netted a brace against Lithuania, propelling the Netherlands to a 3-2 win and surpassing Robin van Persie’s long-standing record as Holland’s top scorer.

With his two goals at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium, Depay moved past Robin van Persie’s 50-goal tally to claim the record for most goals scored in the history of the Dutch national team. 

The achievement came during his 102nd cap, matching the appearance count of Van Persie when he set the record. Previously celebrated as one of the most prolific strikers in Dutch history, Van Persie held the record since 2011 after overtaking Patrick Kluivert.

Depay’s breakthrough reflects his enduring influence on the Oranje, becoming the nation’s go-to attacking threat over many years.
