Alarm for Spain and Barcelona! Dani Olmo suffers a new injury
Dani Olmo has set off alarm bells for both Spain and Barcelona after suffering a confirmed muscle injury. A major setback just days before two crucial matches.
An injury that raises concern
Dani Olmo has once again become a source of worry for both La Roja and FC Barcelona. The Spanish playmaker left Thursday’s training session after feeling discomfort in his left leg, and medical tests have confirmed a muscle injury in his calf.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) released an official statement explaining that the player “arrived at the training camp with signs of muscle fatigue, as previously reported by his club.” Despite some improvement under treatment, Olmo felt pain again during the session, forcing the medical staff to stop his participation.
The diagnosis was clear: a new injury that will keep him out of Spain’s upcoming international fixtures against Georgia (in Elche) and Bulgaria (in Valladolid).
Treatment in Las Rozas and return to Barcelona
According to the RFEF, the midfielder will remain in Las Rozas until Friday, where he will continue receiving physiotherapy before returning to Barcelona on Saturday.
On Monday, Barcelona’s medical team will conduct further tests to determine the exact extent of the injury and his recovery timeline.
The Federation confirmed that the club’s medical department has already been informed of the diagnosis and that both parties will coordinate to ensure the player’s rehabilitation progresses in the best possible way.
A shared concern for Spain and Barça
Olmo’s absence comes at a critical time for both the national team and the Catalan club.
For Spain, Luis de la Fuente loses one of his most creative and versatile midfielders just before two key matches on the road to the 2026 World Cup. For Barcelona, Xavi Hernández faces yet another headache in a squad already hit by multiple injuries in attack.
The 26-year-old had only recently returned to action after recovering from previous discomfort and was hoping to regain match rhythm with Spain. However, his recurring physical issues have once again disrupted his momentum.
Olmo will leave the national team camp this weekend, and although there is no official recovery timeline yet, Barcelona fear he could miss several games once the international break is over.
