Lamine Yamal showed no nerves before tearing France apart in the semis, falling asleep on the way to the stadium again
Lamine Yamal fell asleep once again on the way to the stadium before a big game—just like he did before the Euro 2024 semifinal against France. This Thursday in Stuttgart, the Spanish wonderkid repeated the routine and then went on to steal the show with a brace that helped Spain reach the Nations League final.
“I was really sleepy, let’s see if it brings the same luck. Hopefully, yeah,” said the FC Barcelona player in a feature called A Day with Lamine Yamal, produced by the Spanish Football Federation, giving fans a look at what life is like inside the team camp before a huge match.
Laid-back vibes before the big game
In the video, Lamine Yamal is totally chill, hanging out with teammates like Samu Omorodion, Dean Huijsen, Fermín López, and Nico Williams. He says he’s living the moment like any regular day—chatting with friends and getting the usual good-luck texts from his mom.
“My friends have been messaging me more these days, but I’m still goofing around like always,” he said. While they’re joking around, they start talking about who’s scored for the national team. When Yamal mentions his goals, Nico Williams jumps in, laughing, to remind him that he scored in the Euro 2024 final.
Big-game baller with his sights on the final
“I told Nico that when I talk, I back it up,” Yamal added—then went out and scored two goals against France, earning the Man of the Match award. At the end of the video, he left fans with a message: “Another day, time to go for the final, and give it everything for you.”
Later, he spoke about the team’s current form: “Every moment with the national team has been really special. Especially that goal against France—I'll never forget it. Defending a title like the Nations League gets you fired up. We’re super motivated.”
Spain, who already won the 2023 Nations League and Euro 2024, now has a shot at a third title in a row. They’ll take on Portugal, who knocked out Germany in the other semifinal. The final will be played this Sunday in Munich, Germany—a chance for this new generation to keep making history.
“Before the Euros, no one even had us in the mix. Now, they’re calling us favorites for everything. People are already asking about the World Cup and that’s still a year away. It’s great to have the respect of other national teams. The hard part is keeping it—and winning, which is what really matters,” Lamine Yamal said.
