BREAKING NEWS: Cristiano Will not Play in The Club World Cup, The Player Confirms
Portugal is preparing for an exciting Nations League 2025 final against Spain, a match that could be the last major appearance of Cristiano Ronaldo with his national team. At 40 years old, the legendary Portuguese striker continues to defy time, hopeful of winning his third international trophy with the national squad.
Ahead of the match at Allianz Arena in Munich, Cristiano held an extensive press conference addressing various topics, from the emerging talent of Lamine Yamal to his professional future. One of the most notable moments was when he discussed the possibility of playing in the upcoming Club World Cup.
“I’m not going to participate. That is already decided,” said the Al Nassr player, putting to rest rumors linking him to the revamped club tournament. “I’ve had talks, but right now I’m focused on the national team. This stage is not part of my current plans.”
A smile for Argentina and respectful words about Messi
When asked about possibly teaming up with Lionel Messi in that tournament, Cristiano responded with a laugh and an Argentinean-style phrase: “Bueno, boludo…” causing laughter in the room. Then, he became more serious and expressed his affection for Argentina: “My partner is Argentine. I have a lot of affection for Argentina, though I’ve never been there. I would love to visit someday.”

Regarding a potential move to an Argentine club like Boca Juniors or River Plate, he said it’s unlikely but left the door slightly open: “Never say never. I’ve received offers, but right now I see it as complicated.”
About Lamine Yamal, he praised his talent and asked the media not to put too much pressure on him: “He’s a kid with great talent. He’s in a good environment, but let him grow without too much pressure.” He also revealed that his own son admires the young Barcelona player.
In closing, the all-time top scorer assured he is enjoying the present without thinking about retirement anytime soon: “I know I don’t have many years left, but as long as I’m motivated, I will continue. Tomorrow could be a great day for me and for Portugal.”
