(VIDEO) Isco’s Surprise Confession: His Kids Are More Excited About Lamine Yamal Than His Return to Spain
Isco returns to the Spanish national team after six years, and the spotlight isn't just on him—his children are more thrilled about him meeting Lamine Yamal than seeing him back in the red jersey.
Isco Alarcón is one of the standout names in the latest Spain squad, called up for the UEFA Nations League Final Four. The Real Betis midfielder returns to the national team after a six-year absence, bringing both experience and renewed excitement.
In a video published by the Spanish national team, Isco made a humorous and heartfelt confession: “My kids are more excited that I’m going to see Lamine than to see me with La Roja.” The statement quickly went viral, underlining the influence of the young Barcelona star and the humility of the veteran.
A Special Number and a Long-Awaited Return
The 32-year-old playmaker arrived at the team camp alongside Marc Cucurella, whom he had recently faced in the UEFA Europa Conference League Final. Interestingly, Isco will wear the number 22 jersey, a number he previously donned during his time at Real Madrid, currently wears at Betis, and had also used during past spells with the national team. The number was handed over to him by Cucurella, who had worn it in recent matches and will now switch to number 23.
Isco’s inclusion is not only symbolic—it reflects his excellent form this season with Betis, where he has been a key figure under coach Manuel Pellegrini. His creativity and vision will be valuable assets for Luis de la Fuente’s squad as they seek continental glory.
Experience Meets Youth in La Roja
The reunion between a seasoned veteran and rising talents like Lamine Yamal represents the blend of generations that Spain aims to capitalize on. As Isco acknowledged in the same interview, “There’s a lot of talent and hunger in this group. I’m here to help and to enjoy this moment.”
