(VIDEO) Cristiano Ronaldo in Tears After Winning the UEFA Nations League with Portugal
Cristiano Ronaldo has done it again. At 40 years old, the Portuguese captain scored the equalizer against Spain and helped lead his team to glory in the UEFA Nations League 2025. But beyond the goal, the record, or the title itself, it was his emotional reaction after the final whistle that truly moved fans around the world.
A Historic Goal… Followed by Raw Emotion
In the 61st minute, Nuno Mendes burst down the left flank and delivered a dangerous cross. After a rebound, Cristiano was in the right place at the right time to fire home the equalizer with his right foot—goal number 938 of his career and 138th for Portugal. That moment reignited hope for the Seleção and shifted the match’s momentum.
However, Ronaldo couldn't finish the game. He was subbed off in the 86th minute due to physical discomfort and watched the remainder—extra time and penalties—from the bench. When Rúben Neves scored the decisive penalty to make it 5-3, Cristiano broke down. Covering his face, he burst into tears, overcome with emotion.
Could This Be His Final Title With Portugal?
The moment quickly went viral. Amid the celebrations, Ronaldo's tears stood out—tears of joy, nostalgia, and perhaps, finality. Many were reminded of Euro 2016, where he was also injured in the final but lifted the trophy as a leader from the sidelines.
This Nations League win marks his third international title with Portugal. And with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, it could very well be his last major triumph with the national team.
