Portugal pulled off a memorable comeback to defeat Germany 2-1 in the UEFA Nations League 2024–25 semifinals, held at the Allianz Arena in Munich. Goals from Francisco Conceição and Cristiano Ronaldo overturned an early strike from Florian Wirtz, sending the Portuguese side to the final.

The first half was tightly contested, with chances for both teams but no breakthrough. Germany opened the scoring early in the second half through Wirtz, who headed home a pinpoint cross from Joshua Kimmich.

However, Portugal responded quickly thanks to bold tactical changes by Roberto Martínez. The introduction of Vitinha, Semedo, and especially Conceição injected new energy into the team. The young winger equalized with a powerful long-range effort, and just minutes later, a brilliant link-up between Nuno Mendes and Bruno Fernandes led to a cross that Cristiano Ronaldo tucked away for the 2-1 winner.

With this win, Portugal advances to the UEFA Nations League final, where they will face the winner of Spain vs France, set to take place on Thursday, June 5.

The final will be played on Sunday, June 8, also in Germany.

Already champions of the tournament's inaugural edition in 2019, Portugal now has the chance to become the first two-time winner of the Nations League — still driven by a decisive Cristiano Ronaldo at age 40.
