Aston Villa, Champions of the Europa League
Unai Emery did it again. “Mr. Europa League” won his fifth Europa League title and brought Aston Villa back to continental glory, something they had not achieved since the 2001 UEFA Intertoto Cup. Their greatest memory remained the historic European Cup of 1982, a season in which they also lifted the UEFA Super Cup. Today, more than four decades later, the Villans are once again touching Europe’s elite.
Absolute dominance in the final
Aston Villa came out determined to impose their conditions from the very first minute. The reward came through a stunning goal from Youri Tielemans, who struck the ball on the volley and left goalkeeper Noah Atubolu with no chance. Shortly after, Emiliano Buendía appeared, delivering a spectacular finish into the top corner to extend the lead and set the tone for the final.
In the second half, Villa’s dominance did not drop. In the 57th minute, Morgan Rogers scored the third goal after a brilliant run from Emiliano Buendía, who delivered a memorable performance with a goal and an assist.
Aston Villa were a true “Crazy Train”: absolute intensity, constant pressing, and a team that never stopped attacking even with a comfortable lead. Emery managed to make his side play the final with personality, aggression, and a tactical conviction that completely dismantled the German side.
The European legacy of Unai Emery
History also offered a special nod to the past. Just like in 1982, Aston Villa once again defeated a German club in a European final. Back then it was Bayern Munich; now the Birmingham club has written another unforgettable night in its continental history. With this title, the Villans reach their fourth European trophy and confirm their return among the main protagonists of European football.
What Unai Emery has done in this competition is already legendary. He now has five Europa League titles: three with Sevilla FC, one with Villarreal CF, and now another with Aston Villa. He was also a runner-up with Arsenal FC. No one dominates this competition like him.
Emery took a team fighting relegation and gradually transformed it into a competitive club in England and a respected force in Europe. Today, Villa Park is dreaming big once again.
And while Birmingham celebrates, the references feel inevitable. As Ozzy Osbourne, one of the club’s most iconic supporters, once said: “Mama, I’m Coming Home.” The trophies are back home. There are "No more tears" for the Villans. Aston Villa roars again in Europe. Up the Villa.
