(VIDEO) Berke Özer Saves THREE Penalties in Lille vs Roma Europa League Clash
The UEFA Europa League delivered one of the season’s most jaw-dropping moments in the match between Lille and AS Roma. Beyond the French side’s 1-0 victory, the night will be remembered for the heroics of Turkish goalkeeper Berke Özer, who saved three consecutive penalties in the dying minutes of the game.
How Did the Triple Save Happen?
The incredible sequence unfolded in the 82nd minute, when Belgian referee Erik Lambrechts awarded a penalty to Roma after a foul by Zeki Çelik. Artem Dovbyk stepped up to take it, but Özer denied him with a confident stop.
The referee ordered a retake, yet the Turkish keeper saved again. Unbelievably, a second retake was called—and against all odds, Özer stopped it once more, cementing his place as the undisputed hero of the night and writing himself into Europa League folklore.
Lille Shock Roma in Italy
The match-winning goal came early, in the 6th minute, through Hakon Haraldsson, giving Lille a crucial three points. The French side now sit atop their group with six points, while Roma were left stunned at home with only three.

Fenerbahçe Also Celebrate
Elsewhere, Fenerbahçe earned their first Europa League points with a 2-1 win over Nice at the Chobani Stadyumu. Kerem Aktürkoğlu netted twice (3’, 25’) before Kevin Carlos pulled one back for the French side in the 37th minute.
The result leaves Nice bottom of the group with zero points after two matches, while Fenerbahçe look to build momentum ahead of their next clash against Stuttgart. Meanwhile, Nice will travel to face Celta Vigo in what promises to be another intense showdown.
