Why isn't Lamine Yamal playing against Slavia Prague?
FC Barcelona travels to Prague this Tuesday to face Slavia Prague in the Champions League with several significant absences, including that of the young winger Lamine Yamal, who will not be available due to suspension.
The Blaugrana player did not join the traveling squad after completing his yellow-card cycle. Yamal received his third yellow card in the most recent continental match against Eintracht Frankfurt, which forces him to miss this UEFA Champions League league-phase fixture.
Four notable absences in the squad
In addition to Lamine Yamal, Barcelona heads into the European tie with three other confirmed absences:
- Ferran Torres: The club reported that the Valencian forward will be sidelined for ten days after suffering an injury to the semimembranosus muscle in his right leg.
- Marc-André ter Stegen: The German goalkeeper has been granted permission by the club to remain in Barcelona while he finalizes his loan move to Girona FC, a deal that could be completed in the coming days.
- João Cancelo: The Portuguese full-back is not registered for this phase of the European competition.
Good news for Flick: Raphinha returns
Not everything is setbacks for the Blaugrana coach. Raphinha returns to the squad after recovering from a thigh bruise that kept him out of the last league match against Real Sociedad.
Faced with the absences, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has turned to the youth academy and called up Diego Kochen, Jofre Torrents, Tommy Marqués, Dani Rodríguez and Juan Hernández, who will join the first team in Prague.
