Vinícius Makes a Promise to Real Madrid Fans: “We’re Going to Win the Champions League”
Vinícius Jr. expressed his confidence ahead of Real Madrid's Champions League opener and insisted that the Spanish giants are ready to conquer Europe again after two seasons of falling short of expectations.
The Brazilian acknowledged that the team's last two Champions League campaigns fell short of expectations, but he believes the squad has everything it needs to change that story this season.
“Hopefully, No. 16 will come. We're ready for it. It's our competition. We haven't done well in the last two years,” said Vinícius, who explained that the first objective will be to finish among the top eight in the league phase and qualify directly for the Round of 16.
However, his strongest statement came when discussing the team's ambitions: “This season is going to be different from the last two Champions League campaigns, and we're going to win it.”
Vinícius Warns of Inter's Threat
Real Madrid's journey will begin against Inter, an opponent Vinícius considers particularly difficult because of its physical strength and defensive structure.
“Inter is a very strong team physically. They defend with five at the back, and that's something that usually causes us problems, but the coach has prepared for it,” he explained.
The forward also acknowledged that several absences could make the European opener more difficult, although he is confident the team can once again rely on its connection with the fans to begin the Champions League campaign with a positive result.
His Most Special Goals Came in Champions League Finals
Vinícius' confidence is also backed by his own history in the competition. The Brazilian has already won two Champions League titles with Real Madrid and played a starring role in both finals.
He scored against Liverpool and later found the net against Borussia Dortmund, two moments he considers the most important of his career.
“They are the two most important goals of my life. It's something that stays in history. Many players score goals, but few score in finals,” he said.
For Vinícius, achieving those moments while representing Real Madrid makes the memories even more meaningful. Now, the Brazilian wants to write another chapter in the club's European history, and he is not hiding his objective: to lift the Champions League trophy again and bring European Cup No. 16 to the club's trophy cabinet.
