The UEFA Champions League Finals for 2028 and 2029 Already Have Designated Venues

  • UEFA has defined the two stadiums that will host the new editions of the Champions League.

Future finals already have a stadium

The UEFA Executive Committee confirmed this Tuesday the venues for the finals of its club competitions for the upcoming seasons, with Camp Nou as the stage for the 2029 Champions League and the German Allianz Arena for the next season in 2028.

At the meeting held in the Greek city of Thessaloniki, the Executive also decided that the final of the women's 'Champions' 2027-2028, which was sought after by, among others, the San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, will be held at the Parc Olympique Lyon (France) and that the 2028-2029 season final will be played at the National Stadium of Wales, in Cardiff.

Barcelona's stadium was vying for the men's Champions League final against London's Wembley Stadium, which has been chosen to host the two semifinals and the final of the next Euro 2028, to be jointly organized by England, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

Camp Nou already hosted the final of the competition in 1999, with Manchester United defeating Bayern Munich (2-1), and in 1989, still under the name European Cup, it was contested by Milan and Steaua Bucharest (4-0). By 2029, it will be the stadium with the largest capacity in Europe, with a seating capacity of 104,600 spectators.

Built in 1957, the Camp Nou is included in the 2030 World Cup bid that Spain will organize with Portugal and Morocco as one of the venues proposed by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to host the opening match and the final.

The UEFA Executive also confirmed the Munich Arena, the only one that had submitted its candidacy, as the venue for the 2028 Champions League final, a year after the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid hosts this season's final on June 5, 2027.

In addition to the venues for the men's and women's Champions League finals, UEFA also chose the National Arena in Bucharest to host the 2028 Europa League final and the National Stadium in Belgrade for the 2029 final.

The final of the Conference League 2028 will be in Turin, at the Juventus Stadium, and the 2029 final will be in Budapest, at the Puskas Arena.

The next edition of the Super Cup in 2027 will be held at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam, and the 2028 edition at the Astana Arena. EFE
