The Android Is Back! Erling Haaland’s Numbers Prove He’s Not Human
Erling Haaland is enjoying the best scoring start of his career, but even his deadliest version doesn’t seem enough to rescue Manchester City.
The ‘Cyborg’ Strikes Again
Never count Erling Haaland out. The Norwegian has returned to his most ruthless form, leaving behind last season’s doubts and reaffirming his status as a true predator in the box. Against Monaco in the Champions League he put on a finishing clinic: first with an explosive run and chipped finish, then with a powerful header that summed up his lethal instincts.
At just 24 years old, Haaland is once again the most feared striker in Europe, and the numbers back him up. After what many labeled a “disappointing” season, he still managed 45 goals across club and country in 2023/24 — a tally most strikers could only dream of.
The Best Start of His Career
The real shock comes when looking at his current stats. In the first 10 matches of this season (including internationals), he already has 17 goals, with 8 consecutive games on the scoresheet and 15 goals in that streak alone. For perspective: in his legendary 61-goal campaign with City, he had 14 at this stage.
What’s more, Haaland has just become the player to reach 50 Champions League goals in the fewest games — only 49. He outpaces stars like Harry Kane (57) and Lionel Messi (66), cementing his place as a true generational phenomenon.

A City That Fails to Take Off
While Haaland is smashing records, Manchester City is struggling to keep up with his brilliance. Pep Guardiola’s side sits just seventh in the Premier League, five points behind leaders Liverpool. Their lack of consistency starkly contrasts with the striker’s red-hot form, as Haaland appears to be carrying the attacking load almost on his own.
The season is long, but City must react quickly to avoid wasting the best start of the “cyborg’s” career. Haaland’s numbers may be from another planet — but without collective success, his individual shine risks being dimmed.
