PSG's Dembele to receive calf treatment ahead of Champions League final
Ousmane Dembele was concerningly withdrawn during Paris Saint-Germain's final Ligue 1 match, less than two weeks out from facing Arsenal.
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed Ousmane Dembele will receive treatment on a calf issue ahead of the Champions League final, noting he was substituted against Paris FC as a precaution.
Dembele was withdrawn 27 minutes into PSG's final Ligue 1 game of the season on Sunday, which ended in a 2-1 defeat.
Luis Enrique did not offer an update on the Ballon d'Or winner's condition in the immediate aftermath of that match, raising concerns ahead of the European showpiece on May 30.
PSG will face Arsenal at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, as they look to become the first team other than Real Madrid to defend the Champions League trophy since the tournament's 1992 rebrand.
In a medical report released on Monday, PSG said: "Having been taken off as a precaution after experiencing some discomfort in his right calf against Paris FC yesterday evening, Ousmane Dembele will remain on the treatment table over the next few days."
Dembele played an instrumental role as PSG won a Ligue 1, Coupe de France and Champions League treble in 2024-25, scoring 33 goals and providing 13 assists in all competitions.
In a historic 5-0 rout of Inter in last season's Champions League final, Dembele became the first player to provide two assists in the European showpiece game since Marcelo for Real Madrid in 2018.
His 14 goal involvements in the 2024-25 competition overall (eight goals, six assists) were the second-most by a French player in a single season, after Karim Benzema in 2021-22 (17).
Dembele has been affected by injuries this season, however, only playing 39 matches in all competitions and coming off the bench in 15 of those.
He has still scored 19 goals and supplied 11 assists, though, with his 30 goal involvements being the most of any PSG player, ahead of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's 29.
