Paris Saint-Germain’s greatness in France is beyond doubt after winning their second UEFA Champions League title
The Parisian club has firmly established itself as the most successful team in the history of French football in all competitions, especially in Europe.
After winning their second UEFA Champions League title in the 2025–2026 final in Budapest, Paris Saint-Germain have firmly established themselves as the dominant force in French football, with little opposition capable of challenging their supremacy.
EUROPE’S FLAGSHIP CLUB FROM LIGUE 1
By lifting two Champions League trophies in three finals at Europe’s most prestigious club competition, PSG have achieved what no other French side has managed. Only Olympique de Marseille have reached two finals, winning one, while Stade de Reims have also appeared in two but lost both. AS Saint-Étienne and AS Monaco have each reached a final of the European Cup without lifting the trophy.
In addition to their 2024–2025 Champions League triumph, PSG’s European honours also include a Cup Winners’ Cup, an Intertoto Cup, and a UEFA Super Cup, bringing their continental tally to five major trophies, alongside a Club World Cup title.
PSG now stand alongside European giants such as FC Porto, SL Benfica, Chelsea FC, Nottingham Forest, and Juventus.
The Parisian club also became the ninth side in history to successfully defend the Champions League crown, joining an elite group that includes Real Madrid, SL Benfica, Inter Milan, Ajax Amsterdam, Bayern Munich, Liverpool FC, Nottingham Forest, and AC Milan.
Several French clubs have also lifted the now-defunct Intertoto Cup, including Olympique de Marseille, FC Girondins de Bordeaux, Lille OSC, Olympique Lyonnais, RC Strasbourg Alsace, RC Lens, AJ Auxerre, Montpellier HSC, EA Guingamp, ES Troyes AC, and SC Bastia.
DOMESTIC GLORY ALREADY SECURED AT THE TOP
With 59 total trophies, PSG overwhelmingly surpasses their rivals, including Olympique de Marseille, who hold 28. The Paris club stands as the most decorated side in French football history across all domestic competitions.
They have won 14 Ligue 1 titles, 16 Coupe de France trophies, 14 Trophée des Champions, and nine Coupe de la Ligue titles.
Behind them, AS Saint-Étienne follow with 10 league titles, Marseille match them with 10 Coupe de France wins, FC Girondins de Bordeaux have three Coupe de la Ligue titles, and Olympique Lyonnais have collected eight Trophée des Champions.
