Ousmane Dembélé Happy After His PSG Return: “I Came Back Quietly”
The Ballon d’Or winner returned with a goal, humility, and a smile. Ousmane Dembélé made his comeback from injury, proving that the European champion’s magic is back.
The Champion’s Return
After six weeks sidelined with a muscle injury, Ousmane Dembélé pulled on the Paris Saint-Germain shirt again — and did so in spectacular fashion: with a goal. The Frenchman came off the bench in the 63rd minute against Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena, and just three minutes later, he was celebrating his first strike since his return, sealing PSG’s dominant 7–2 victory on Matchday 3 of the Champions League league phase.
The image of the newly crowned Ballon d’Or winner celebrating his goal was one of the highlights of the night. With this comeback, Dembélé not only reignited excitement among PSG fans but also confirmed that his recovery is on the right track for a team determined to repeat last season’s European glory.
“I Came Back Quietly”
Speaking to Canal+, the French forward shared his honest feelings about returning to action:
“I came back quietly; when you’re recovering from an injury, you’re never one hundred percent. I already wanted to play against Strasbourg, but the coach told me to wait a little longer. I felt really good.”
Dembélé also explained how his goal came about:
“I saw the opportunity coming — a great pass from Bradley Barcola that I just had to finish. I feel good; I’m gradually getting back into form.”
His words reflected a mix of relief and confidence after overcoming the muscle injury he suffered on September 5 while on international duty with France.
PSG in Commanding Form
With this victory, Paris Saint-Germain remain top of their Champions League group, having won all three of their league-phase matches so far. For Dembélé, the result was another sign that the team is heading in the right direction:
“Scoring seven goals is important — we have to keep going like this. It’s only the first phase of the season, but we need to perform well in both the Champions League and Ligue 1.”
Under Luis Enrique, PSG once again showed their most dominant version, with an attack firing on all cylinders and their star player finally back. Ousmane Dembélé has returned — and his goal was the perfect warning shot to the rest of Europe.
