No Turning Back: Gabriel Jesus Chooses to Stay at Arsenal and Not Return to Palmeiras
Gabriel Jesus breaks his silence after a long injury layoff: the Brazilian forward rules out a return to Palmeiras and reaffirms his full commitment to Arsenal, where he aims to reclaim his place as Mikel Arteta’s trusted No. 9.
Gabriel Jesus closes the door on Palmeiras and goes all in with Arsenal
Gabriel Jesus is at a pivotal stage in his career. After more than nine months out due to a serious knee injury, the Brazilian striker has made it clear that his present and immediate future belong to Arsenal. At 28, he insists he has no plans to return to Brazilian football and is fully focused on regaining the form that once made him a key pillar of Mikel Arteta’s project.
“This was the toughest injury of my life, but also the one that taught me the most,” he told the club’s media. The forward is already training under the supervision of Arsenal’s fitness staff, focusing on strength work and load control confident that all the effort will pay off. “I’m learning to listen to my body more. I don’t want to rush the process, but I’m eager to get back and help the team,” he added.
Under contract until 2027, Gabriel has also sought to put an end to the rumors linking him with a return to Palmeiras, the club where he came through the ranks before making his big move to Manchester City in 2017.
A comeback Arsenal desperately needs
Although the Gunners have maintained good form in the Premier League, Gabriel Jesus’ absence has been felt more than the stats might suggest. His movement, work off the ball, and killer instinct are fundamental to Arteta’s attacking system, one that has relied on Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz to fill the void.
His return could coincide with a decisive stretch of the season, as Arsenal aim to solidify their title challenge and push deeper into European competition.
A message of loyalty and maturity
Far from the transfer headlines, Gabriel Jesus has sent a strong and clear message: his loyalty to Arsenal is not up for debate.
The striker also reflected on the mental side of such a long recovery process. “You go through moments of frustration, but every day is a new opportunity to improve. You learn to value what it means to wear this shirt.”
Palmeiras will have to wait: the European dream lives on
From Brazil, Palmeiras had shown interest in bringing their former star back — especially after news broke that he was left out of Arsenal’s Champions League squad. However, the striker has completely shut down that possibility, at least for now.
As the rumors fade, Gabriel Jesus’ message grows louder: he’s determined to write a new chapter with Arsenal and prove that his best version is still yet to come.
