Kylian Mbappé reached 71 Champions League goals after scoring in Real Madrid’s victory over Inter Milan, tying Raúl González as the fifth-highest scorer in the competition’s history.

Kylian Mbappé continues to write his name alongside the greatest figures in Champions League history. The French forward reached 71 goals in the competition, moving into a tie with Raúl González, a Real Madrid legend, for fifth place on the all-time scoring list.

The milestone came during the Spanish club’s 2-1 victory over Inter Milan in its league-phase opener. Mbappé opened the scoring before Federico Valverde extended the lead in the first half, while Carlos Augusto pulled one back for the Italian side.

The goal carried even more significance for the Frenchman, who had received an award before the match after finishing as the top scorer in the 2025-26 Champions League.

Mbappé Ties Raúl and Breaks Into the Top Five

With 71 goals, Mbappé now shares fifth place on the all-time list with Raúl, and his next target is another former Real Madrid striker: Karim Benzema, who sits fourth with 90 goals.

Ahead of them are Robert Lewandowski with 109 goals, Lionel Messi with 129 and Cristiano Ronaldo, the Champions League’s all-time leading scorer with 141.

The milestone further underlines the Frenchman’s remarkable production in Europe’s premier club competition, although one major objective remains missing from his career: winning the Champions League for the first time.

The Champions League Remains His Biggest Unfinished Goal

Mbappé spent several seasons chasing the trophy with Paris Saint-Germain, but was unable to win it before leaving the French club. Since joining Real Madrid, the forward has also yet to add the Champions League trophy to his collection.

His individual production with the Spanish giants, however, has been outstanding. The forward has recorded 91 goals and 12 assists in 102 appearances for Real Madrid, establishing himself as one of the team’s leading figures.

Now, Mbappé begins another European campaign having firmly established himself on a list reserved for some of the competition’s greatest legends. With 71 goals and several years still ahead of him, the French star has the opportunity to continue climbing the rankings and move closer to the marks set by Benzema, Lewandowski, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
