Luis Enrique not interested in 'legend' tag after third Champions League triumph
Paris Saint-Germain edged out Arsenal on penalties to become the first team since Real Madrid to win the Champions League back-to-back.
Luis Enrique shrugged off the "legend" tag, after he led Paris Saint-Germain to another Champions League triumph.
PSG beat Arsenal 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at the Puskas Arena.
It saw the French giants become just the second team to win the Champions League in consecutive seasons.
Luis Enrique, meanwhile, has won all three of the finals he has been involved in. Only Carlo Ancelotti (five) has won the Champions League on more occasions. The Spaniard also has the highest win percentage of any coach with 50+ games in the competition's history (63.3%).
However, Luis Enrique does not see himself as a legendary figure.
"Legend? I'm not interested in that," he said, as quoted by BBC Sport.
"I'm mixed. Excitement, fatigue. Everything but this is the best moment of the season. We are still champions, two in a row, it's amazing."
Luis Enrique named the same 10 outfield players who started last year's Champions League final against Inter, which they won 5-0.
They are only the second side to field the same 10 outfield players in successive finals in the competition's history, after Real Madrid in 2017 and 2018.
PSG equalled the record for most goals scored in a single edition of the European Cup/Champions League, with their 45 drawing level with Barcelona’s total in 1999-2000.
And though they relied on penalties to get over the line, Luis Enrique believes his team were worthy winners over the course of the campaign.
He told TNT Sport: "It's amazing. I think maybe both teams deserved to win, but the way we played the whole season, I think we deserved to win it."
Luis Enrique sees no reason why PSG cannot contest for the title again next term, though he suggested they must refresh their squad.
He added: "We try to be there again next year. Why not?
"When you have a lot of quality players, we still need to renew the squad. We need to have to play for the position, get new players, and that is normal for a team like PSG."
