When and where is Manchester City vs PSG?

Manchester City host Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, October 14 at 3:00 PM ET at the Etihad Stadium, with German referee Sven Jablonski in charge.

Both teams opened their Champions League campaigns with victories. City beat Porto 2-0 away from home, while PSG began their title defense with a dominant 6-1 win over Slovan Bratislava.

The stage could hardly be bigger: one of the most in-form teams in England against the reigning European champions in one of the standout games of Matchday 2.

How do Manchester City arrive?

Enzo Maresca’s side are flying. City sit top of the Premier League with a perfect record and are coming off one of their most impressive wins of the season, a 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield.

Their excellent form on the pitch has been overshadowed by controversy off it, however. City come into the game under heavy scrutiny after being found guilty of breaching financial fair play regulations.

How do PSG arrive?

The domestic picture has been much less convincing for Luis Enrique’s side. PSG surprisingly sit sixth in Ligue 1, although a 3-1 win over Le Mans has helped steady the ship.

There were no such concerns in Europe. The defending champions opened their campaign with a 6-1 rout of Slovan Bratislava, a powerful reminder of the level they can reach before this trip to Manchester.

Players to watch

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland remains City’s main attacking reference. His movement inside the box, ability to punish space and ruthless finishing could prove decisive against a PSG defense that will have very little margin for error.

Ousmane Dembélé

Ousmane Dembélé will be one of PSG’s biggest threats. His pace, one-on-one ability and freedom to drift across the front line could be crucial if the visitors can exploit the spaces City leave behind when they push forward.

Final outlook

This is a high-level matchup that feels extremely difficult to call. The betting markets make Maresca’s Manchester City slight favorites, which makes sense given their form and home-field advantage.

But PSG are the reigning Champions League holders, and not just that: they arrive as back-to-back champions. A team with that pedigree and this much attacking quality can never be underestimated.

  • Manchester City remain perfect in the Premier League.
  • PSG opened the Champions League with a 6-1 win.
