Harry Kane Keeps Smashing It at Bayern Munich and Equals Robert Lewandowski’s Record
The English forward of the Bavarian club missed out on the top European club competition, but managed to break a Lewandowski record in the process.
A tough defeat
Last night left a deep mark on Harry Kane. The English striker experienced one of the most painful defeats of his career: he was eliminated from the Champions League final despite scoring a dramatic goal in the 94th minute. That goal, which in any other context would have been celebrated as a milestone, ended up being overshadowed by tears when the final whistle sounded. The bitter feeling is mixed with the certainty that his name is already etched into the history of Bayern Munich
Record tied and what lies ahead
Kane's goal against PSG was his 55th of the season, a tally that puts him on par with Robert Lewandowski, who reached that mark in the 2019/20 season. The Polish player achieved this in 47 games, split between the Bundesliga (34), the Champions League (15), and the German Cup (6). Kane, on the other hand, needed one more game: Bundesliga (33), Champions League (14), German Cup (7), and German Super Cup (1). The difference is minimal, and in fact, the Englishman still has room to surpass Lewandowski: there are two league games left against Wolfsburg and Cologne, as well as the Cup final against Stuttgart.
Kane is expected to be available for those matches, and as the team's offensive leader, he is expected to score again. Everything indicates that he could surpass Lewandowski's record and end the season with a new high for the Bavarian club. However, the dream that led him to leave Tottenham in 2023, winning European trophies, is once again slipping away. He has already won two Bundesliga titles, but the Champions League has once again eluded him, following a thrilling knockout round that ended 5-6 on aggregate and whose first leg was a true ode to soccer.

Kane continues to rack up achievements
Despite the defeat, Kane added another achievement to his record: he became the second player to score in six consecutive Champions League knockout stages, equaling Cristiano Ronaldo's historic record from the 2012/13 season. This achievement confirms his relevance and his ability to deliver in crucial moments, even though the outcome this time was heartbreaking.
