Harry Kane Equals Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League Record
Harry Kane made history once again in the UEFA Champions League. The English striker scored in the second leg of the semifinals against PSG and equaled a record previously held by Cristiano Ronaldo, although his goal was not enough to prevent Bayern Munich from being eliminated.
With his goal against the Parisian side, “The Hurricane” reached six consecutive knockout-stage matches scoring in the Champions League, equaling the mark he had previously shared with Cristiano Ronaldo. The English forward is enjoying the best form of his career and continues to establish himself as one of the most dominant strikers in world football.
Harry Kane’s Historic Scoring Streak
The streak for Harry Kane began in the Round of 16, where he scored a brace against Atalanta. He then found the net again in the quarterfinals with two more goals against Real Madrid, before scoring in both legs of the semifinals versus PSG. Six straight knockout-stage matches with a goal .
However, while Kane was equaling a historic record, another star ended up setting an even more impressive mark. Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, nicknamed “Kvaradona,” managed to record direct goal contributions in seven consecutive knockout-stage matches through goals and assists.
Kvaratskhelia Is Chasing Another Historic Record
The Georgian winger started his streak in the Round of 16 against Monaco, where he scored. Later, against Chelsea, he netted twice and provided an assist in the first leg, before scoring again in the return match. Against Liverpool, he once again delivered with a goal in the first leg and an assist at Anfield. In the semifinals, he produced a brace in the opening match and followed it up with another decisive assist in the second leg.
What Kvaratskhelia is doing has been simply extraordinary. His ability to create chances, shine in key moments, and decide big matches has even placed him in the conversation for the Ballon d’Or.
In addition, he still has the opportunity to extend the record. With the final yet to be played, the Georgian star could make it eight consecutive knockout-stage matches with a direct goal contribution, setting a record that may prove extremely difficult to break in the future.
A Dream Champions League Final Awaits
The performances of Harry Kane and Kvaratskhelia reflect the spectacular level of this season’s UEFA Champions League, which will feature a blockbuster final in Budapest between reigning champions PSG and Arsenal.
