Feyenoord Possible Lineup Against Barcelona in the Champions League

  • The Dutch side arrive unbeaten for their European opener, but they will need to find a way to survive against a Barcelona team in devastating form.

Feyenoord Face a Huge Test at the Camp Nou

Feyenoord begin their 2026-27 UEFA Champions League campaign on Wednesday with one of the toughest away trips imaginable as they face Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side remain unbeaten in the Eredivisie, recording three wins and two draws so far. However, their performances have not always been convincing, and they will need to raise their level significantly against one of the hottest teams in European football.

Barcelona enter the match with four wins from four in LaLiga, scoring 17 goals and conceding only two. Feyenoord’s first major challenge will therefore be staying competitive during the opening stages and preventing Barça’s attacking firepower from taking early control of the game.

Valente, Ferri and Diarra Set to Lead the Attack

Luciano Valente will be one of Feyenoord’s most important players when it comes to creating danger in Barcelona territory. The talented 22-year-old will need to make the most of every opportunity to find space and connect with the attacking players around him.

Nacho Ferri is expected to operate through the middle, with Gaoussou Diarra also part of an attacking unit that will need to be particularly effective in transition. Feyenoord are unlikely to create as many chances as their opponents, making every opportunity especially valuable.

In midfield, Charles Vanhoutte, Gjivai Zechiël and Oussama Targhalline face an enormous task. They will need to disrupt Barcelona’s control of possession while also finding ways to move the ball forward quickly whenever Feyenoord regain it.

Van Bronckhorst Must Strengthen His Defensive Structure

Feyenoord’s injury situation makes the challenge even more difficult. Bart Nieuwkoop, Gijs Smal, Jakub Moder and Jordan Bos are among the players unavailable, limiting Van Bronckhorst’s options for a game that may require an almost flawless performance.

Givairo Read, Jerry St. Juste, Tsuyoshi Watanabe and Mika Mármol are expected to form the back line in front of Tjark Ernst. Their primary mission will be containing a Barcelona attack featuring threats such as Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, Fermín and Anthony Gordon.

Feyenoord enter as clear underdogs, but they are still unbeaten this season. Surviving Barcelona’s early pressure, staying compact and taking advantage of any opportunities on the counter will be crucial if the Dutch side are to leave the Camp Nou with a positive result.

Feyenoord Possible Lineup vs. Barcelona

Giovanni van Bronckhorst could use a 4-1-2-3 formation against the Catalans:

  • Goalkeeper: Tjark Ernst
  • Defenders: Givairo Read, Jerry St. Juste, Tsuyoshi Watanabe, Mika Mármol
  • Midfielder: Charles Vanhoutte
  • Attacking midfielders: Gjivai Zechiël, Oussama Targhalline
  • Forwards: Gaoussou Diarra, Nacho Ferri, Luciano Valente
