Barcelona Receive a Boost as a New Addition Strengthens the Push for the Champions League Round of 16
Ferran Torres returns to Barcelona’s squad for the decisive Champions League clash against Copenhagen
FC Barcelona have received key news ahead of the UEFA Champions League. Forward Ferran Torres, who missed the last two matches due to injury, is the main addition to the Blaugrana squad for this Wednesday’s match against Copenhagen, the final game of the Champions League league phase.
The Valencia-born attacker had been sidelined with an injury to the semimembranosus muscle in his right leg, which kept him out of the matches against Slavia Prague (2–4) and Oviedo (3–0). Now fully recovered, he is once again available to head coach Hansi Flick.
Ferran Torres’ return is the only positive addition for Barça, who will look to secure direct qualification to the round of 16 of Europe’s top competition at the Spotify Camp Nou. The objective is clear: win and score as many goals as possible to finish the league phase among the top eight teams.
Key absences for Barcelona
For this European fixture, Hansi Flick will be without several important players. Pedri, Gavi, and Andreas Christensen remain sidelined through injury, while Frenkie de Jong will miss the match due to suspension. João Cancelo is also absent, as he is not yet registered for the Champions League.
Given these absences, the German coach has rounded out the squad with two players from the reserve team: full-back Jofre Torrents and midfielder Tommy Marqués.
