Bayern Munich suffered an injury in the run-up to their Champions League quarter-final second-leg match against Real Madrid, making it difficult for them to hold onto their lead against the Madrid team, who will play the decisive away leg. The injured player is Lennart Karl, a young player who has risen to prominence under Vincent Kompany and established himself as a key member of the Belgian coach's squad.

Press Release

“Lennart Karl has suffered a muscle tear in the back of his right thigh. This was confirmed by an examination carried out by Bayern's medical team. The  18-year-old striker will be sidelined for the time being,” stated the German sports club in its press release

Out of the return leg

The young player's injury will keep him out of the return leg, an absence that Kompany will have to manage with the players he has on the squad. The positive for Bayern Munich is that they will decide the series at home with a one-goal lead, having won 2-1 at the Bernabéu
