Thierry Henry Praised PSG After They Qualified for Another Champions League Final
Thierry Henry appreciated the transformation PSG has undergone since the arrival of Luis Enrique
For many years, PSG believed the best way to bring their first Champions League title to the Parc des Princes was by building a team made up of the best players in the world. An idea that Luis Enrique broke away from as soon as he landed in the capital of France. Now, before completing two years in the role, he has proven that his methods were right after leading PSG to the second Champions League final in their history… building a team admired across Europe for their style of play.

"I'm glad that PSG is in a position to bring another star to French football"
Those were the words of a global legend like Thierry Henry, who didn’t hesitate to praise PSG's dominance over Arsenal, a team he led to their only Champions League final in 2006: "Of course, I'm hurt because they eliminated Arsenal, it saddens me. But as a Frenchman, I’m also happy that PSG is in a position to bring another star to French football. Because in our entire history, we only have one, which is very little. So I hope they make it," he said in an interview with CBS Sports.
He also highlighted PSG’s overall turnaround: “I’ve seen incredible teams there. At one point, they were dominant, then they had issues, there was even a time when it wasn’t safe to go watch a match there. Since the Qataris arrived, you have to give them a lot of credit. They made the stadium a safe, recognized place, and now you see PSG jerseys everywhere. I was in New York and saw Paris Saint-Germain shirts all over the place. And now they’re in a position where they can win the Champions League.”
Thierry Henry acknowledged the work of Nasser Al-Khelaifi
Thierry Henry also wanted to say a few words to Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the architect of this 'new' PSG: "I want to give you the respect you deserve. And let me tell you why. As a Frenchman, I know the pressure you’ve been under. This city is not easy when things go wrong. But what I wanted to say is, thank you. Because you changed the way people see Paris Saint-Germain. When I was a kid, it wasn’t like that. You changed everything — the community, the atmosphere — now people can go to the Parc des Princes and enjoy the games. That wasn’t always the case in the club’s history.”
Finally, as a Frenchman, he expressed his hope that PSG can bring the Champions League title back to the country: “Hopefully now they can take the next step and win another star (for France). I know people in Marseille won’t like that, but oh well. I’m going to like it. It was my team (Arsenal) that got knocked out, but I want Paris Saint-Germain to win the Champions League. Because that would put the finishing touch on everything you achieved — and how you achieved it. You put Paris back on the map. So, congratulations and thank you.”
