Ousmane Dembélé beats Raphinha to be named UEFA Champions League MVP
Ousmane Dembélé, forward for Paris Saint-Germain, has been named the Best Player of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, after leading his team to their first-ever European title with a commanding 5-0 win over Inter Milan in the final.
Elite numbers all season long
The former Stade Rennais, Borussia Dortmund, and Barcelona player clocked 1,163 minutes across 15 matches, scoring eight goals and providing six assists. His performances were key to Luis Enrique's team's success, especially in the final, where he truly led by example.
“Beyond the goals, Dembélé has stepped up as a leader for PSG, especially with his effort and pressing up front in the final,” said UEFA’s panel of technical observers. “He constantly unsettled defenders with his skill and movement in midfield.”
A dream come true
“I’ve dreamt of playing in the Champions League since I was a kid. Reaching the final was amazing, but winning it? That’s just on another level. I’m super proud of the journey and everything it took to get here,” said the 28-year-old French attacker. With this award, Dembélé follows in the footsteps of stars like Karim Benzema, Rodri Hernández, and Vinícius Júnior.
