Donnarumma on Track to Renew with PSG After Another Stellar Night in the Champions League
Donnarumma once again delivered a stellar performance in the Champions League against Arsenal to lead PSG to their second Champions League final
Since arriving from Milan as a free agent in the summer of 2021, considered one of the most promising goalkeepers in Europe, Gianluigi Donnarumma has featured in many of PSG’s most delicate moments in the Champions League in recent years. However, at 26 years old, he has undergone a transformation, becoming the goalkeeper everyone expected at the Parc des Princes, delivering yet another standout performance against Arsenal.

Donnarumma Saved PSG Again
Already in the first leg played at the Emirates Stadium, Donnarumma had to make several crucial saves before halftime to preserve the valuable goal scored by Ousmane Dembélé in the first minute, which gave PSG an advantage heading into the return leg. After being the hero against Liverpool in the round of 16 and Aston Villa in the previous round, Donnarumma stepped up once again in PSG’s most critical moment against Arsenal.
PSG knew that Arsenal would come out blazing at the Parc des Princes, aiming to level the tie, and in the first five minutes, they created three big chances to do so. But that’s when Gianluigi Donnarumma emerged to deny every Arsenal opportunity. The English side generated enough chances to score more than three goals, recording the highest shot volume (19) in a Champions League knockout match since 2016, when they faced Barcelona.
Donnarumma Wants to Stay at PSG
Luis Enrique, as expected, didn’t hesitate to praise Donnarumma’s performance: “He was fantastic. Just like in the first leg. Our team is built to attack and defend far from our goal. It’s crucial to have a goalkeeper like him. Especially on set pieces, he was brilliant. Our goal is to make history, and to do that, we must win the Champions League.”
Under contract until 2026, there has been talk for months at the Parc des Princes about renewing Gianluigi Donnarumma’s deal with PSG—especially now that he’s proving to be the kind of goalkeeper any team needs to dream of winning the Champions League. “I have one more year on my contract… but it’s the club’s decision. If PSG wants me to stay, I’ll stay. We just need to sign a new deal,” Donnarumma said after the match, having delivered another masterclass to take PSG to their second Champions League final.
