Champions League: Dortmund is Formidable at Home
Borussia Dortmund took advantage of the advantage of their imposing stadium, the Signal Iduna Park, to withstand the attacks of the impressive PSG of Kylian Mbappé and secure a hard-fought victory, thus maintaining their incredible streak of two and a half years without losing at home in Europe.
The Signal Iduna Park is an oasis, a festive place where Borussia Dortmund is carried away by the passion of the Schwarz-Gelben people. In the Champions League, this support seems to make a remarkable difference. Although they have already lost on four occasions in the Bundesliga in front of their fans, they remain undefeated on the European scene.
An unexpected solidity
This invincibility is not recent and dates back to November 3, 2021, in the match against Ajax Amsterdam (1-3), meaning almost two and a half years without suffering a defeat. During this period, the Germans have not only avoided defeat but have also shown a conquering face with 20 goals scored and a rare solidity with only four goals conceded, two of them in the second leg of the quarterfinals against Atlético Madrid (4-2). It's curious, given that the German defense is often criticized for its fragility.
Paris Saint-Germain already experienced the effect of the Signal Iduna Park, as last December they only managed to breach the rival's defense once through Warren Zaïre-Emery (1-1) and in the Champions League Semifinal where they failed to score. Although they don't set foot on the field, once again, the German fans and the "Yellow Wall" played their part well in this first leg of the Champions League semifinals against PSG, creating a hostile atmosphere for the visitors and crucial for the locals. It remains to be seen if the German side can withstand PSG's firepower at the Parc des Princes.
