Neymar Continues to Try to Earn His Place on the Brazil National Team
The iconic player of the Brazilian national team is still putting up important numbers at his club with the hope of making the squad
Neymar steals the show
Santos took advantage of the international break to organize a training match between the first team and the U-20 team at the CT Rei Pelé. The friendly was crucial for Cuca, who is looking to fine-tune his squad ahead of the match against Remo at Vila Belmiro. The result was inconclusive, but Neymar once again stole the show: he scored a goal and provided an assist, all while making a full recovery
His return to scoring
The striker didn't hide his joy after scoring again: “It's important, isn't it? Both for our team's training and for the younger players. I've been on the other side, and I know how huge a game like this is in a youth player's career. It's an opportunity for all of them, too,” he told the club's official media, as reported by ESPN Brasil. “We're happy to have these kinds of training sessions. After so many days without games, it's good to get back into the rhythm. It was good; it was fun to take part. Everything was great. One goal and one assist—everything was perfect."

More minutes
While Neymar gains minutes and confidence, the debate over his return to the Brazilian national team remains open. Carlo Ancelotti, head coach of the Seleção, has kept a firm stance: “I observe everything, I listen to everything. But my role is to make decisions. It’s normal that everyone can have an opinion, because football isn’t a university… football isn’t an exact science. Everyone has their opinion, and I have to respect everyone’s opinion.”
The Italian coach is prioritizing the collective dynamic with an eye on the 2026 World Cup in North America, while Neymar faces a race against time to prove he is ready. The star’s dream of once again wearing the famous yellow shirt remains intact, but his physical condition will ultimately be the decisive factor.
