Trabzonspor Suffer Painful Defeat That Pushes Them Away from Fenerbahçe
Matchday 17 of the Turkish Süper Lig wrapped up ahead of the year-end break with Gençlerbirliği and Trabzonspor delivering a match full of goals and drama.
Turkey’s top flight kept the excitement alive until the very end, as Gençlerbirliği and Trabzonspor played out a thrilling, high-scoring contest. However, Trabzonspor’s 4–3 defeat ultimately dealt a heavy blow, pushing them further away from the race at the top of the table.
Felipe Scores Twice for Trabzonspor
The visitors’ nightmare began early, with goals from Dimitrios Goutas (5’) and Franco Tongya (31’) putting Gençlerbirliği in control. Still, Felipe consistently stepped up to keep Trabzonspor alive, pulling one back just before halftime to restore hope.
Felipe then struck again to level the match, briefly igniting dreams of a comeback. But the hosts proved ruthless in attack, responding with goals from Oğulcan Ülgün (52’) and Sekou Koita (58’).

The finale was dramatic, especially after Ernest Muçi converted a penalty in the 67th minute, but despite late chances, Trabzonspor were unable to avoid defeat.

With the loss, Trabzonspor remain third in the Süper Lig with 35 points, now four points behind second place.
Fenerbahçe, sitting second, have 39 points, while league leaders Galatasaray top the table with 42.
