Galatasaray Crowned Super Lig Champions
Galatasaray defeated Antalyaspor 4-2 to officially secure the Super Lig title in Turkey. With this new championship, the Istanbul giant reached 26 league titles in its history and further cemented its status as the most successful club in Turkish football.
The Legacy of Okan Buruk
The season led by Okan Buruk was nearly flawless. The manager captured his fourth consecutive league title with Galatasaray, an achievement the club had not accomplished since the late 1990s and early 2000s, when Fatih Terim dominated Turkish football with championships in the 1996/97, 1997/98, 1998/99, and 1999/00 seasons.
With a squad full of talent and experience, Galatasaray proved far superior to its rivals throughout most of the campaign. Players such as Leroy Sané, Victor Osimhen, and Mauro Icardi led a solid, intense side with tremendous attacking power. The club lost only four matches all season and held the top spot in the standings from Matchday 3 onward, showcasing remarkable consistency.
A Celebration Across Istanbul
Although the celebrations had to wait a few extra days following last week’s away defeat against Samsunspor, the ending turned out to be perfect for Galatasaray. The title was secured at home in front of a packed stadium, with supporters transforming the match into a massive celebration.
The atmosphere erupted when Kaan Ayhan scored the team’s fourth goal after an assist from Mauro Icardi, who came off the bench and once again proved decisive. The Argentine striker completed another outstanding individual campaign and finished as the club’s top scorer in league play with 14 goals.
What Okan Buruk is achieving with Galatasaray is already becoming part of the club’s history. Since taking charge, he has accumulated 145 victories in 203 matches while also winning four consecutive league titles, a Turkish Cup, and a Super Cup.
Beyond the trophies, the coach has built a dominant and highly competitive team with a very clear identity. This Galatasaray side not only wins — it also gives the impression of defining an era in Turkish football.
Istanbul is celebrating. Galatasaray once again conquered Turkey and reaffirmed its place as the country’s true football giant.
