(VIDEO) Galatasaray Mocks José Mourinho After Winning the Süper Lig
The Turkish giants celebrate their 25th league title with a direct jab at the Fenerbahçe coach,
Galatasaray clinched their 25th Süper Lig title with a dominant 3–0 victory over Kayserispor, cementing their status as the most successful club in Turkish football. But beyond the sporting triumph, the club stirred controversy by taking a not-so-subtle dig at José Mourinho, manager of archrivals Fenerbahçe.
“The Real One”: A Response to the “Special One”
During the post-match celebrations, Galatasaray’s staff placed a laptop on the pitch displaying the message “The Real One” along with five golden stars—each representing five league titles. The stunt was a direct reference to Mourinho’s iconic nickname “The Special One,” and to a recent moment where he used a laptop to protest refereeing decisions.
Fans also joined in the mockery, unveiling banners aimed at Mourinho, including one that read: “The most expensive influencer in the world,” a jab at his high salary and the media buzz surrounding him rather than on-field results.
Heated Rivalry Between Mourinho and Galatasaray
Tensions between Mourinho and Galatasaray have been simmering since his arrival at Fenerbahçe. Earlier this season, he was involved in a controversial moment when he grabbed Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk by the nose during a heated cup match.
Following Galatasaray’s title-clinching victory, Mourinho criticized their celebration style—particularly when goalkeeper Fernando Muslera took a penalty in the final minutes of the match—calling it disrespectful and a reflection of the club’s character.
With this championship, Galatasaray further asserts its dominance in Turkish football. Meanwhile, Mourinho’s future at Fenerbahçe is now in question, with speculation growing about a possible return to the Premier League.
