The Istanbul side practically started the match with the lead already in hand. Just two minutes in, a mistake while playing out from the back by Samsunspor was punished by Oğuz Aydın, who perfectly picked out Vedat Muriqi. The striker remained composed inside the box and finished to make it 1-0.
(Video): Fenerbahçe Take Control and Beat Samsunspor
Fenerbahçe confirmed their strong form and secured their second victory of the season with a 2-0 away win over Samsunspor on Matchday 3 of the Süper Lig.
The goal was only a glimpse of Fenerbahçe’s dominance during the opening minutes. In the 4th minute, Mason Greenwood delivered an excellent long pass to Oğuz Aydın, who controlled the ball and went looking for the second, but Okan Kocuk responded to keep the hosts alive.
Greenwood and Muriqi Threaten Samsunspor
Things became even more complicated for Samsunspor in the 16th minute when Fatih Kaya was forced to leave the pitch through injury, with Antoine Sekongo coming on in his place.
Little by little, the home side began to escape Fenerbahçe’s pressure and enjoyed more possession. Sekongo had a good opportunity in the 26th minute, but his volley went over the crossbar.
The problem came whenever Samsunspor lost the ball.
Fenerbahçe found huge spaces to attack, and in the 32nd minute they came extremely close to doubling their advantage. After a series of rebounds, Muriqi connected with a cross and sent his effort against the crossbar.
Greenwood also began to emerge as a constant threat. He first tested the goalkeeper from long range in the 35th minute before connecting with a volley from inside the box three minutes later, but Kocuk was there once again.
Fenerbahçe went into halftime with a narrow advantage that seemed insufficient considering the number of chances they had created.
Oğuz Aydın Caps Off an Excellent Performance
The second half began almost exactly like the first: with an immediate blow from Fenerbahçe.
In the 48th minute, the visitors produced an excellent counterattack. İrfan Can Kahveci found Oğuz Aydın, who raced forward at full speed before entering the box and taking on the defense.
Everything suggested he would look for the cross.
But Oğuz surprised everyone.
The forward unleashed a powerful effort toward the near post that caught Kocuk off guard and found the back of the net to make it 2-0.
A goal and an assist for Oğuz completed an outstanding afternoon.
Fenerbahçe could have extended their lead again in the 54th minute when Mattéo Guendouzi delivered an excellent cross for Muriqi, but his header was denied by Kocuk.

Lukaku Gets More Minutes as Fenerbahçe Control the Match
Another important moment arrived in the 63rd minute with the introduction of Romelu Lukaku. The striker continues to gradually build up minutes with his new team, and this time he was given more than half an hour to try to score his first goal in a Fenerbahçe shirt.
Samsunspor had one of their final major opportunities in the 72nd minute. A mistake from Nélson Semedo presented the ball to Sekongo, but his shot went narrowly wide of the goal defended by Ederson.
From that point on, Fenerbahçe managed the match with much greater composure.
The hosts continued to battle and tried to find a way back into the game during the closing minutes, but they never created enough danger to seriously threaten the visitors’ advantage. Fenerbahçe lowered the tempo, managed the result and waited for another opening to finish the match on the counterattack.
They did not need it.
The 2-0 victory was enough for Fenerbahçe to secure their second consecutive win in the Süper Lig and move to six points after three matches, a result that lifts them into third place in the standings.
After a difficult start to the season, the Istanbul side are beginning to find their rhythm. And in Samsun, they found a very clear formula: strike almost immediately, exploit the spaces and control the match to take home three important points.
