The Farmer and Bodybuilder Who Stunned AC Milan and Is Taking Italy by Storm
Federico Baschirotto: The Cremonese Defender Who Combines Football with Farm Life
“Playing football is like being on vacation,” were the striking words of Federico Baschirotto, the Italian defender for Cremonese, who confessed that he worked on his father’s farm since childhood.
Baschirotto Makes History: Goal Against Milan After 100 Years
The center-back has already etched his name in Italian football history. Last weekend, he scored a goal against AC Milan, securing Cremonese’s first victory over the Rossoneri in over 100 years.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Baschirotto showcased his skills off the pitch: driving a tractor, cleaning cow and pig pens, and even picking tomatoes at his family’s farm in Veneto, northern Italy. “Someday I’ll return to continue what my parents have built,” the footballer assured.
The Muscular Celebration That Went Viral
The defender has also gained fame for his unique celebration, flexing his muscles in bodybuilding poses. “I dedicate many hours to my physique; I believe it’s the engine that allows us to work longer in football. I’ve become stronger, more agile, faster,” he told Chiamarsi Bomber.
For Baschirotto, discipline on the football field feels like a break compared to rural life:
“I consider work on the football field a vacation. Going to football or the gym isn’t tiring at all because I compare it to the tasks on the farm,” he said in an interview that resonated again in Italy after his goal against AC Milan.
The 28-year-old player has previously played for teams like Lecce and Ascoli, as well as clubs in Italy’s second and third divisions. In 2023, he received his first call-up to the Italian National Team, and today he enjoys international recognition following his historic performance against AC Milan.
