The Eternal Smile Returns to Italy: Ronaldinho To Play Again at 46 With Ravenna
Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho Gaúcho will feature in an exhibition match with the Italian Serie C club as part of an ambitious marketing campaign to be unveiled in Miami. Although he will not join the regular squad, excitement is skyrocketing to see 'Dinho' work his magic once more.
The football world is gearing up to witness the return of one of its most iconic smiles. Legendary former Brazilian footballer Ronaldinho Gaúcho will step back onto the pitch at 46 years old to play in an exhibition match with Ravenna, a club currently competing in Italy's Serie C. The initiative is part of an ambitious promotional and branding campaign that has sparked immense international excitement.
Full details of the agreement will be officially revealed on June 23rd during a special event in Miami, United States. The project is driven by the Italian club's owner, Ignazio Cipriani, an entrepreneur with whom the Brazilian star shares a close friendship. Local media reported that the former Barcelona and AC Milan playmaker expressed his excitement about "dancing with the ball" once again and bringing his trademark joy to the Ravenna squad, even opening the door to potentially acquiring a stake in the team.
Despite the massive buzz generated, the club's board was quick to manage expectations regarding a return to professional football. The club's vice president, Ariedo Braida, clarified that 'Dinho's' involvement is strictly tied to a marketing event and ruled out his formal integration into the squad for the upcoming campaign due to his age.
Ronaldinho, a 2002 World Cup winner and 2005 Ballon d'Or recipient, retired from official football in September 2015 while playing for Fluminense. This special appearance in Ravenna's colors will serve as a nostalgic reunion with his magic, just before the Emilia-Romagna outfit kicks off its summer pre-season, where they aim to fight for promotion to Serie B.
