Ruben Amorim Praises Cisse After His Hat-Trick in Milan’s Rout
Cisse stole the show in Milan's 4-0 thrashing of Salzburg in the Europa League
AC Milan had a perfect night in the Europa League, winning 4-0 against Salzburg at the Red Bull Arena. The undisputed star was Alphadjo Cisse, a mere 19-year-old forward, who scored three goals before the 50th minute and became the team's top scorer of the season with five goals. Gonçalo Ramos closed the score in a match where the Italians showed efficiency.
"He doesn't owe me anything"
Coach Ruben Amorim did not hesitate to highlight Cisse's personal merit. "He doesn't owe me anything, he deserves the opportunities he's getting for what he's doing for himself," he declared to Sky Sport Italia, quoted by Football Italia. The coach added: "He knows how to be explosive. He has a lot of heart, but he can improve both in training and in matches. All the congratulations are for him, although he still has a lot of potential and things to refine." Amorim made it clear that the young man's present is the result of his own effort and that there is still room for growth.
A victory with history and caution
Statistics favor Milan as they have won 10 of their 14 official matches against Austrian rivals (3 draws and 1 loss), including another 4-0 against Salzburg in the 2022 Champions League. However, Amorim was cautious regarding the team's overall performance. "We have had more control in other matches, but we managed to score. We have played better on other occasions, although we focused too much on the result. There are things to improve, but it was a lovely night," he noted. The thrashing is exciting, but the road is long and the team must continue fine-tuning details to establish itself in Europe.
